ABOUT THE ARTIST
After a 25-year hiatus, Erica Wee "unexpectedly" traversed back into painting in 2016. Since then, she has been pushing boundaries.
A self-taught artist, Erica works mainly with Acrylic and Oil. Representational and figurative, Erica’s art captures the realistic nature of her subjects, interjected with an abstract touch - they are traditional, yet styled with a daring modern slant; realistic, yet juxtaposed with a dramatic edge. The results are bold, uplifting “statement artworks” which are as energetic and vivacious as the artist herself. Erica enjoys creating in different styles of contemporary realism, minimalism, still life, pop art, and even mural art.
A Singaporean, Erica spent the last 15 years living and working in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since 2022, she is thrilled to return to Singapore, and be reunited with family and friends. Erica now lives in her childhood "hometown" of Katong with her two Chinese Share-Pei's who love nothing more than snuggling up next to Erica's art easels.
“Art cannot change the world,
but it can contribute to changing the consciousness and drives
of the men and women who could change the world.”
– Herbert Marcuse,
German-American philosopher
